General laborers perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction building sites.

• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Material handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Operates hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
• Cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, sets braces to support the sides of excavations, erects scaffolding, cleans up rubble and debris.
• Controls traffic in and around work zone. Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Digs ditches or trenches, backfills excavations, or compacts and levels soil to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Measures, marks, or records openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
• Loads, unloads, or identifies building materials, machinery, or tools and distributes them to the appropriate locations.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the competent person, project manager or corporate.
• Erects or dismantles scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Completion of OSHA 10 course work preferred. Forklift certification a plus.
• Basic carpentry skills, including reading tape measure.
• Pouring and float finishing concrete and/or masonry skills a plus.
• Self-motivated and dependable (including reliable transportation to get to and from job sites both in and out of town). Must be available to work nights and weekends when needed.
• Demonstrates quality workmanship and attention to details.
• Acute safety awareness. Agile, physically fit with a strong sense of balance.
• Ability to perform at elevated work areas in tight quarters or other environments (with appropriate safety gear)
• Ability to handle and maneuver heavy materials and operate equipment such as aerial lifts, forklifts etc.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
