We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Environmental Services Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our Environmental Services team. In this role, you'll assist with scheduling, training, inventory oversight, and safety compliance while ensuring all public and administrative areas are maintained to the highest standards. You'll also help lead staff meetings, conduct facility walkthroughs, and collaborate closely with department leaders to deliver efficient service and a clean, welcoming environment for guests and employees alike.
What you will do as an Environmental Services Assistant Manager:
- Creates daily work schedules at least three days in advance ensuring that employees are rotated through the different duties. Monitors business flow to develop efficient training, break and shift schedules for effective coverage.
- Always meets with off-going and on-coming Supervisor(s) to discuss special tasks and problems. Enters all pertinent information in the Supervisor's communication book.
- Demonstrates an understanding of public area cleanliness as a primary responsibility and in doing so, ensures that all areas specific to the public/administration are kept clean.
- Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of all chemicals and equipment used by the department. Understands all information on MSDS sheets and has these available in case of a chemical accident.
- Has a thorough knowledge of the inventory system used by the Environmental Services Department. Advises Environmental Services Manager of any equipment and supplies that require ordering.
- Effectively conducts initial safety training to new employees and provides ongoing safety education for all Environmental Services staff.
- Conducts routine tours of the facility to ensure that all areas are receiving proper attention and to establish any problem areas that may require special attention. Ensures that employees are in assigned areas.
- Maintains frequent communication with all work areas to ensure efficiency, performance standards, and superior guest service. Sets up shift meetings to convey pertinent information to employees regarding policy or scheduling changes.
- Reviews payroll reports for accurate work hour totals and makes adjustments when needed.
- Consistently monitors recruitment needs and interviews prospective employment candidates. Makes informed selections while making sure Human Resources and Environmental Services Manager are consulted appropriately.
- Demonstrates an understanding of PAF and administrative procedures and in doing so, accurately tracks and records LOA's, vacation time, EO's, call-outs, and special requests.
- Assists the Executive Housekeeper with the care/maintenance and replacement schedules for all Turning Stone furniture, fixtures and cleaning equipment.
- Works with the Executive Housekeeper and Director of Hotel Operations to ensure complete synergy and maximum efficiency development between Hotel Housekeeping and Environmental Services.
- Consistently demonstrates a working knowledge of Environmental Services Operations and always monitors specific safety concerns to evaluate intended results.

Work Experience To be successful as an Environmental Services Assistant Manager, you'll need:
- High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma required. College degree or some level of secondary education preferred.
- Above average verbal and written communication skills required.
- OSHA and MSDS training required.
- Ability to operate all cleaning equipment required.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemical uses and precautions required.
- Prior commercial/hospitality industry cleaning experience preferred.
- Knowledge of scheduling preferred.
- Knowledge of two languages preferred.
- A valid driver’s license may be required; may be required to transport supplies/equipment and clean offsite.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
