What you will do as a Flooring Technician – Level I:
- Effectively uses basic flooring equipment.
- Ensures proper materials and supplies are available to complete the job the first time.
- Effectively works with necessary departments to complete assigned jobs.
- Effectively operates hand tools and power tools in a safe manner and consistently demonstrate concern for safe operation of power tools.
- Protects the job site using drop cloth and keeps the work area clean and well organized.
- Effectively prioritizes duties to maximize the workday.
- Files accurate daily log of routine duties and work order repair requests.
- Accurately reads blueprints.
- Assists in other areas within the Facilities Dept. when requested to do so.
What you will do as a Flooring Technician – Level II:
- Efficient in the knowledge and use of all types of flooring equipment.
- Efficient in the knowledge of various types of flooring and proper application techniques.
- Has overall responsibility to take the appropriate steps to prepare various types of damaged tile or carpeted surfaces for repair and to make quality repairs in a timely manner.
- Accurately roughs in walls, floors and counters using hard board or cement board.
- Assists in ordering supplies from on site warehouse to perform jobs.
- May function as a mentor for Level l Flooring Technician.
- Effectively manages assigned jobs, ensuring each installation meets quality and job scope requirements.
What you will do as a Flooring Technician – Level III:
- Assists Construction Site Manager with ordering supplies, material and equipment.
- Responsible for assisting in estimating man-hours and materials required to make the necessary aesthetic work order repairs.
- Excels in flooring techniques and applications.
- Helps to schedule, coordinate and manage aesthetic repairs as required.
- May function as a mentor for Level l and Level ll Flooring Technician.
- Provides input to Construction Site Manager regarding coaching, disciplinary actions and performance evaluations for all Flooring Technicians.

Work Experience To be successful as a Flooring Technician, you'll need:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
- Experience based on Career Tier Progression as listed below. Experience can be substituted for educational requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, diplomacy and objectivity.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to be detail-oriented and able to strive in a multitask environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 71 - 80 pounds.
Career Tier Progression:

Level I:
- 0-2 years related experience.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency + Tech Math I Course Completion.
Level II:
- 2-5 years related experience.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
Level III:
- 5-10 years related experience.
- Highschool Diploma or Equivalency.
- Completing 10 hours of seminar and/or continuous education in related field.
