As a Cook you are responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks using approved menus and recipes. This role ensures food is prepared safely and in compliance with health and sanitation standards, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, and supports inventory and daily kitchen operations while delivering quality and consistency for community members.
What does a Cook do?
Works with supervisor to plan menus and prepare meals and snacks for center programs using approved recipes.
Prepares food for daily youth programs, concessions, and special events.
Create and maintain supply and food lists for items to be ordered; receive and properly store deliveries.
Serve meals and snacks according to established schedules.
Monitor inventory and estimate food needs; communicate supply needs with supervisor.
Complete all kitchen clean-up, including dishes, cookware, and equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen, including food prep areas and all equipment.
Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
Assist with set-up and clean-up for food service and community events.
Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and food service-related sessions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

To be successful as a Cook, you'll need:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior kitchen or food service experience required; large-group cooking experience preferred.
Experience using kitchen equipment such as slicers, ovens, and flat top grills.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations required. ServSafe certification preferred and required upon hire.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to support programs and community events.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and provide leadership when needed.
Ability to maintain positive, respectful relationships with children and adults.
Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
