Starting Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 yearly


The Facilities Inspector is responsible for handling a file of floor plans, establishing a schedule for the maintenance of Nation buildings, and ensuring monthly inspections and annual inspections are coordinated and scheduled.


Day Shift Available

Your day-to-day as a Facilities Inspector will entail:

  • Performs monthly inspections and coordinates annual inspections with fire extinguisher vendor.
  • Maintains fire extinguisher inventory and changes out units as required.
  • Performs monthly and annual rundown test of emergency lights.
  • Coordinates inspection of sprinkler systems. Reviews reports and develops proposal to address deficiencies.
  • Orders inspection of canopy suppression systems. Reviews reports and develops proposal to address deficiencies.
  • Develops and maintains floor plans of all Nation buildings. Updates after construction or changes.
  • Monitors and addresses propane levels during winter.
  • Perform maintenance inspections of buildings and recommend repairs.
  • Emergency snow removal.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Facilities Inspector, you'll need:

  • General knowledge of construction materials and methods typically used for one and two story buildings used in this region and IBC code requirements.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Ordinances with particular emphasis on property maintenance, fire safety and building code issues.
  • Excellent graphic communication skills, particularly effective at gathering information from Department and Program personnel, reporting data and presenting space allocation alternatives.
  • Computer skills, preferably including familiarity with database structure, spreadsheets, word processing; project planning and computer aided drafting (MicroStation experience preferred).
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls within a reasonable period of time.
  • Prior experience with inspecting buildings, adhering to codes, and some field work preferred.
  • To be able to work indoors and outdoors under conditions ranging from extreme hot to extreme cold, fumes, odors, dust and poor ventilation.
  • Must be able to work around mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and height hazards.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License.
  • The ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time and lift up to 70 pounds.
