As Senior Facilities Project Manager, you’ll oversee complex projects from concept to completion, guide multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and drive operational excellence across a dynamic facilities portfolio. What you will do as a Senior Facilities Project Manager:

  • Oversees and manages all assigned facilities construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects from planning through project closeout.
  • Supervises the team of Project Managers and provides leadership, guidance, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Supervises the Construction Site Manager and associated project teams to ensure effective coordination and execution of all field activities.
  • Supervises CAD Technicians and ensures the accuracy and maintenance of project drawings, documentation, and records.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for all projects assigned within the department portfolio.
  • Assigns projects to Project Managers and allocates staffing and departmental resources based on organizational priorities and project schedules.
  • Develops and maintains detailed project schedules and coordinates activities with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and consultants as appropriate.
  • Reviews new projects and deliverables with the Vice President to determine proper lead time, funding, staffing requirements, and resource allocation necessary to complete projects successfully.
  • Maintains oversight of all project budgets and ensures expenditures remain within approved funding parameters.
  • Monitors project costs, reviews change orders, identifies budget risks, and implements corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicates relevant project information to stakeholders including schedule changes, budget impacts, project risks, and scope modifications.
  • Provides the Vice President with comprehensive weekly project status reports for all active and outstanding projects.
  • Coordinates activities with vendors, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and internal departments while maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Secures building permits, construction drawings, third-party inspections, and other documentation required to obtain Certificates of Occupancy where applicable.
  • Schedules and facilitates pre-bid conferences and ensures complete and accurate pre-bid documentation is maintained.
  • Develops bid schedules and collaborates with leadership and contractors to evaluate bids and recommend the lowest responsible bidder.
  • Ensures all project documentation, contracts, drawings, schedules, and related records are properly maintained and organized.
  • Coordinates project turnover activities with operations and maintenance teams and ensures appropriate training and documentation are completed.
  • Reviews punch lists and ensures deficiencies are resolved prior to project closeout.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, safety regulations, organizational standards, and construction best practices.
  • Maximizes departmental productivity through effective planning, prioritization, delegation, and resource management.
  • Coordinates with leadership regarding staffing needs, interviewing, hiring recommendations, and employee development within the project management team.
  • Quickly identifies project issues and develops practical, cost-effective solutions to minimize schedule delays and budget overruns.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Senior Facilities Project Manager, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of project management experience in construction, facilities, or capital projects environment required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of Project Management procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Construction Contracts, Construction Documents, budgeting, scheduling, and Project Administration.
  • Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, planning, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with diplomacy and objectivity.
  • Must have strong computer skills; CADD knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to analyze project risks, schedules, and budgets and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 41 - 50 pounds.
